What do clients say about TSS Tree Transplanting Services?

"I want to give a big shout-out to Dave Forman and his team at Texas Tree Services! They saved my Shumard Oak! It had been planted 10 inches too far into the ground by another installer. TSS noticed the issue, dug the tree up, and replanted the tree using premium nutrients. They brought the frail thing back to life and it showed off big this spring!"

The key to successfully planting a tree

“Get the Right Tree in the Right Place”

At Texas Tree Service, we understand the unique environmental factors that define each region we serve. Our arborists and tree experts begin every project by carefully evaluating your site conditions. Soil type, drainage, utilities, sunlight exposure, and a tree’s mature growth pattern all play a critical role in long-term success. By assessing these factors upfront, we ensure the species you select supports your goals and enhances the natural biodiversity of Washington County and the surrounding communities.

How to choose the right tree for  your region

Choosing the right tree enhances sustainability, promotes long-term carbon capture, and strengthens the overall resilience of your landscape. Texas Tree Service helps you choose trees suited for your soil type, annual rainfall, and climate zone.

We answer dozens of questions similar to these each day:

  • What type of tree should I plant near Brenham?
  • Will a Japanese Maple survive in Burton?
  • Should I plant a Pin Oak or Live Oak near Round Top?

Included in every tree installation

By prioritizing soil biology and sustainable tree care, we help maximize your tree’s longevity, property value, and contribution to natural carbon capture.

  • Plant health inspection and delivery.
  • Extensive soil preparation (2-3 times the root ball size, tailored to your soil type).
  • Root aeration, root pruning, and foundational soil amendments to improve organic matter and overall soil fertility.
  • Application of root stimulators, growth hormones, beneficial bacterial inoculation, and water-soluble humate to encourage robust growth.
  • Application of organic mulch to retain soil moisture, regulate root temperature, and strengthen soil health
  • A super-systemic insecticide treatment providing one full year of protection against over 40 common tree insects.

Comprehensive Installation

Every tree is installed using methods that promote strong root system, stimulate early root development, and enhance organic soil structure. Proper planting depth, precise root flare exposure, and soil revitalization practices maximize soil moisture retention and long-term tree health.

Critical Establishment Care

We implement foundational steps for sustaining a young tree’s health, including structural pruning, soil moisture guidance, and correct mulching technique. These practices improve the surrounding organic matter, reduce stress, and support a thriving, biodiverse root environment.

Bareroot Tree Transplanting

For relocating smaller, high-value trees on estates or ranchland, we use a specialized, low-impact method ideal for maintaining root health and supporting sustainability.

Why use the Air Spade Method for transplanting trees?

  • Minimized Trauma: The air spade protects delicate root structures and encourages successful reestablishment—preserving fine feeder roots essential for nutrient uptake, water absorption, and long-term tree health.
  • Air-Assisted Root Care: By using controlled, high-pressure air, we gently expose roots without mechanical tearing, preserving the biological integrity and biodiversity of the surrounding soil.

  • Ideal for Bareroot Preparation: This technique allows us to prepare the tree as a bareroot specimen for transport—reducing transplant shock and supporting long-term sustainability and revitalization of the new planting site.

Contact us to discuss your specific tree transplanting needs and see if this specialized, low-trauma method is right for your valuable trees.

Texas A&M is paying Texans to plant trees!

To expand tree-planting efforts statewide, the Texas A&M Forest Service is offering more than $1.2 million in grant funding through its Community Forestry Grants program. The initiative is designed to strengthen community forestry projects and support healthier, more resilient urban forests across Texas.

According to Texas A&M Forest Service Program Specialist Cateri Dixon, investing in new trees will enhance the quality of life for today’s residents and for generations to come.

This funding is made possible through a partnership with the  USDA Forest Service.

What is the “Right Tree, Right Place” principle?

This principle ensures long-term tree health by selecting the best species for your specific site conditions—soil type, drainage, sun exposure, underground utilities, and the mature size of the tree. Proper placement helps prevent future structural issues and supports sustainable growth in Texas environments.

We go beyond standard planting practices by incorporating:

  • Root stimulators and natural growth hormones
  • Beneficial microbial inoculation
  • Water-soluble humate to increase organic matter
  • Proper mulching to regulate soil moisture
  • High-quality soil preparation for enhanced biodiversity
  • A super-systemic insecticide providing one full year of protection

These steps significantly boost early root development and long-term tree health.

Healthy trees start with healthy soil.
We prepare the planting area 2–3 times the size of the root ball, ensuring:

  • Loose, well-aerated soil for rapid root expansion
  • Improved soil moisture retention
  • Increased organic matter and nutrient availability
  • Better root-to-soil contact for early establishment

Proper soil preparation is essential in regions like Brenham, Burton, and Washington County, where compacted or depleted soils are common.

No. Traditional spade trucks can cause significant root tearing and transplant shock.
Instead, we use a specialized air spade method, which gently exposes and preserves delicate root structures while preventing unnecessary trauma. This method supports higher survival rates and long-term vitality.

Bareroot transplanting is ideal for smaller, high-value trees where preserving fine feeder roots is essential.
Larger, mature trees typically require different approaches.
Contact us to determine whether this low-trauma, air-assisted method is appropriate for your specific species and location.

Historic Trees Define Texas Communities

For centuries, majestic Texas live oaks, cedar elms, and pecan trees have dotted the rolling green pastures between Houston and Austin and anchored historic downtown communities like Brenham, Round Top, and La Grange. Unfortunately, these historic trees are vulnerable to prolonged Texas droughts, extreme flooding, and severe ice storms. Additionally, clear-cut construction practices pose a real threat to established tree canopies.

To overcome the massive tree loss, Texas Tree Services helps mindful property owners and civic leaders plant new trees to improve sustainability and biodiversity throughout the Brazos Valley and South Central Texas. Whether transplanting  bare root saplings or installing established 2 year oak trees, we apply white-glove treatment to each tree installation project.
